Cáceres es una de las ciudades españolas candidata a Capital Europea de la Cultura en 2016. El Consorcio Cáceres 2016, está integrado por la Junta de Extremadura, el Ayuntamiento de Cáceres, las Diputaciones de Cáceres y Badajoz, Caja de Extremadura, Caja Badajoz, Universidad de Extremadura, Fundación Academia Europea de Yuste y la Cámara de Comercio de Cáceres. Este Consorcio es el responsable de la estrategia, planificación y gestión de la candidatura en España y en Europa. Su objetivo es conseguir que Cáceres sea la candidatura seleccionada por la Comisión Europea como ciudad europea de la cultura en el año 2016.
Y a este ambicioso proyecto nos unimos, y con ilusión y fuerza lo apoyamos todos los ciudadanos extremeños, hijos, nietos o descendientes de extremeños en cualquier lugar de España o del mundo donde nos encontremos. Hay otros muchos ciudadanos de España, de Europa y del resto del mundo que sienten una especial atracción por Cáceres, declarado por la UNESCO Patrimonio de la Humanidad en 1986, Tercer Conjunto Monumental de Europa y con un patrimonio cultural común con América como ninguna otra ciudad en el mundo. Cáceres se revela como una síntesis de la cultura romana, árabe, cristiana y judía. Es, sin la menor duda, la que mejor encarna la identidad europea. Cáceres marca el territorio cultural y cerebral de los europeos. Apoya a Cáceres desde cualquier lugar del mundo como Capital Europea de la Cultura en 2016.

Cáceres is one of the Spanish cities candidate to The European Capital of Culture in 2016. The Consortium Cáceres 2016, is integrated by the Regional Government of Extremadura, the Town hall of Cáceres, City councils of Cáceres and Badajoz, Savings Banks of Extremadura and Badajoz, European Academy Foundation of Yuste and the Chamber of Commerce of Cáceres. This Consortium is the responsible for the strategy, planning and management of the candidacy in Spain and in Europe. The objective is to achieve that Cáceres can be the selected candidacy by the European Commission as the European city of the culture in 2016.
And to this ambitious project we unite forces and illusion all citizens from Extremadura, children, grandchildren or descendants from Extremadura anywhere of Spain or of the world where we find us. It is other many citizens from Spain, of Europe and of the rest of the world that a special attraction feel for Cáceres, declared by the UNESCO World Heritage City in 1986, Third Collection Of historic buildings from Europe and with a common cultural heritage with America as no other city in the world. Cáceres is revealed as a synthesis of the Roman culture, Arab, Christian and Jewish. Is, without the slightest doubt, the one which better embodies the European identity. Cáceres mark the cultural and brain territory of Europeans. It supports to Cáceres from anywhere in the world as European Capital of the Culture in 2016.
